The metabolism of the body uses the food that we consume to convert it as energy, fat or waste. When too much food is consumed, a portion of it is converted to fat and stored. Even when the food consumption is less but a slow metabolism could lead to accumulation of fat. When the physical activity is very less, then rather than burn energy, accumulation of fat takes place. An emerging major health problem is the problem of overweight and obesity. There are many ways to overcome the problem. The major cause of the problem is the sedentary modern lifestyle, a shift from natural foods to fast and junk food and lesser physical activities.
